Mr. VandenBrand has extensive experience in successfully managing a variety of multinational energy, manufacturing, and service businesses. He served as CEO of Calgary-based Kelman Technologies and in other senior management roles at BOS Solutions, Veritas DGC, Veritas Energy Services, and Taro Industries Limited. Mr. VandenBrand began his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), becoming a Partner before moving into industry.
Hansine Ullberg KosteleckyCFO
After obtaining her Bachelors of Commerce and Masters in Accounting at the University of Manitoba, Hansine joined Ernst and Young, Calgary. Hansine worked predominately with oil and gas service clients for six years, becoming a Manager, Accounting and Audit, before leaving for industry. In her 20 plus year career, Hansine has been involved in a wide variety of industries and in businesses of various sizes. Having served as CFO for both public and private companies, Hansine has been key in addressing and solving both financial and operational issues and inefficiencies. Hansine lists the highlights of her career as working with the Calgary Flames organization during their Stanley Cup run of 2003/2004 as well as being involved with growing the business of a limestone mining operation serving the heavy oil industry near Fort McMurray. With her passion for accounting and people, attention to detail, and industry insight, Hansine is a critical member of the RGL team.
Brent FermaniukEVP - Business Development
Brent completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Alberta in 2000 and shortly thereafter joined RGL. Initially employed as a General Assistant, Brent quickly escalated the ranks to become Production Manager/Shop Foreman within months and held that position for several years. From 2003-2006 Brent held the position of R&D Specialist, assisting the Research Engineer in performing research, testing and analysis on Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) pipe. Promoted to Sand Control Specialist in 2006, Brent began to initiate his ideas on Sand Control Engineering of Slotted Liners using particle size distribution and reservoir data. In 2011 he was further promoted to Vice President of Heavy Oil Recovery, which had taken him all over the world on multinational heavy oil projects. While working fulltime as the Vice President, Brent successfully completed his Master’s Degree in Chemical & Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. Since his promotion to Executive Vice President of Business Development Brent has continued to be heavily involved in all aspects of the business. Brent has been a member of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association and the Society of Petroleum Engineers since 2003.
Mike ClaerhoutVP - Product Development
Mike graduated from NAIT’s Groundwater Technology program in 1991 and their Mechanical Engineering Technology program in 1993. After joining RGL in 2001 as a Process Developer, Mike has also served as a Machine Designer, Engineering Manager and on to his current role as VP of Product Development. In his 20 plus year career in product and process development Mike has been involved in many different fields including the manufacture of Medical, Motorcycle, Automotive Accessories and Consumer Products as well as many facets of the Oil and Gas industry. Mike was instrumental in the design and construction of both our Nisku and Oman facilities.
Darcy CulpVP - Manufacturing
After several years working as a Chemical Technologist cleaning up drilling fluid on sites, Darcy was ready for a change and joined RGL’s Quality Control department more than 20 years ago. During his career Darcy has spent time in almost every aspect of the operation. In 1994 Darcy was promoted to Production Manager and after less than a year he was promoted again to Operations Manager. Darcy was responsible for the design and construction of the current Leduc facility in 2006 and for moving equipment and starting operations in the new facility in 2007. In 2009 Darcy was promoted to VP of Manufacturing. Darcy works closely with the rest of RGL’s management group, tirelessly promoting and working towards a positive future for RGL’s employees.
Steven CarriereManager - QMS
Steven graduated from NAIT’s Mechanical Engineering Technology program in 2005 and maintains his C.E.T designation. He has spent his entire career in various capacities for Oil & Gas manufacturing. Steven started in Product Design and Realization, then progressed into Quality Control and on to Quality Manager. In his role as Quality Manager, Steven was responsible for implementing Six Sigma methodologies as well as maintaining all aspects of the ISO 9001 system. Steven is excited with what he has seen in the RGL culture and the desire for continual improvement.
Thomas HoggManager - HSE
Tom is a dedicated Health & Safety professional with an extensive background in Process Safety and Environmental Compliance. Tom graduated with honors from the Occupational Health & Safety program at the University of Alberta in 2011, and went on to obtain his CRSP designation in 2015. Prior to formally pursuing a career in HSE Tom held various supervisory and management roles in Manufacturing as well as the Oil & Gas sector. Tom’s extensive experience in assessing, developing and evaluating HSE programs for various industries brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.
