Calgary, AB – June 1, 2018 – RGL Reservoir Management Inc. is incredibly excited to announce we are the official sponsor of the RGL Dragnum team this year.
Part of the Calgary Dragon Boat Society, the co-ed team was first formed nearly 20 years ago. Although new recruits are added to the roster each season, the current team is comprised of core members who have been paddling together for over a decade. One member, Kent Qin of Osum Oil Sands Corp., is a key business partner of RGL, whom we are happy to support as he competes with the team year.
The team is led by former member of Canada’s National dragon boat team, Shane Martin. Martin is the winner of one bronze, three silver, and four gold medals that he won with the 2017 team in Kunming, China, in October. At the World’s in Hungary in 2013, Martin and the Canadian crew won three gold medals and one bronze medal, while at the 2015 World’s in Welland, they came away with gold in all four categories.
On-the-water training kicked off for the season in early May. This year, the team will be competing at the ATB Financial Lethbridge Rotary Dragonboat Festival on June 22, the Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival Aug. 11 and the San Diego Dragon Boat Race on Sept. 29. The fitness-oriented group’s goal is to place at or near the top of every dragon boat racing festival entered.
RGL is pleased to support key business partners and strives to be involved in the community whenever possible. Because Fostering Excellence is a core company value, Martin and his team are the perfect fit to help RGL achieve results that exceed expectations, even outside of business hours.
