Calgary, AB – June 4, 2018 – Later this week, an Oilweek magazine Rising Star award will be given to RGL’s Research and Development Manager, Dr. Vahid Fattahpour. The honour is granted to only 10 inductees who are entrepreneurs, scientists or innovators in the Canadian oil and gas industry and are under the age of 40.
Nominees were judged based on a range of criteria, including professional achievements, experience, leadership and community involvement.
Dr. Fattahpour has been involved in sand control design and testing in conventional and thermal production for over 10 years in North America and the Middle East. His diverse academic and industrial background includes physical modelling and experimental test and facility design for petroleum geomechanics, rock mechanics and geotechnics in Iran, Hong Kong and Canada.
Prior to working at RGL, Dr. Fattahpour was a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at the University of Hong Kong and a Post-Doctoral fellow and Research Associate at the University of Alberta. He is currently the Research and Development manager and in charge of RGL's proLAB™, managing R&D research projects, including the design, testing and business aspects of sand control solutions.
Dr. Fattahpour completed his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in rock mechanics at the University of Tehran in 2012 and earned a B.Sc. degree in Mining Engineering at Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Iran in 2004.
